At the first full day of the American Football Coaches Association convention in San Antonio, I asked three Pac-12 recruiters from different schools who they believed has the top class in the league. Without hesitation, all agreed the answer was Stanford. While the Cardinal rank behind USC in the Pac-12, Stanford does have a rather impressive collection of talent that is the 15th-best class in the country.

I asked a Stanford assistant if he felt the same way, and even he admitted this is the best class his program has landed since 2012. That 2012 class featured first-round draft pick Andrus Peat, Outland Trophy winner Joshua Garnett, All-Pac-12 selection Kyle Murphy and numerous other impact players. Obviously, top-ranked quarterback K.J. Costello drew high praise from the Cardinal assistant, but he was also extremely excited about the collection of defensive backs heading to Palo Alto, California, such as four-stars Treyjohn Butler and Nygel Edmonds.
