I'm not holding out too much hope, his recent Tweets make is seem like Texas is the choice.

Stanford is fighting some serious head-to-head battles this cycle, and the battle for McCulloch is the biggest.  Yet I would love to be in Coach Shaw's seat tonight because he has a great pitch to make. 

The key factor, as always, is academics.  There is nothing wrong with Texas.  It's a good school, but it is not Stanford, which is a great school.  And McCulloch isn't a good student, he's a great student.  Top 1% of his class.  McCulloch might settle for Texas academics, but he at least understands that he'd be missing something more if he turned down Stanford.

But it's not just about academics anymore.  Stanford is the far superior football program.  Texas has two straight losing seasons and hasn't won double digit games this decade.  Unsurprisingly, Strong is on the hot seat.  If Texas had the program of old, we wouldn't even be having this conversation.  But it doesn't.  And if Stanford were just an academic school, same thing.  But it's not a choice of either academics or football anymore.  With Stanford, it's both and. 

You could make the same case for Stanford with Pryts (who has a 3.9 gpa and appears to be really bright as well).  Aside from the difference in academics, Penn State is not the program it used to be.  It has 3 straight 7-win seasons and hasn't won double digit games this decade.  The coaching staff suffered significant turnover and Franklin is on the hot seat. 

These kids might well choose to stay close to home, but there is a tremendous opportunity for them if they are willing to travel, and these kids seem like the type to snatch that opportunity.
