I see no basis to say that the staff prefers Herbig over Powell. Herbig de-committed. If the staff preferred Powell, it would simply offer him, but the staff hasn't done that. By comparison, Herbig was the OL star of Stanford's camp and picked up an offer immediately after the conclusion of the drills, well before Hattis got one. Further, when Herbig decommitted, he instantly got offers from UW and ASU, which are better offers than Powell has, even though he supposedly is the hot commodity.Â
I also do not see any basis to say that the staff prefers Eboh over Edmonds. The staff offered Edmonds very early in the process and held off on offering Eboh until January. Remember that Eboh was at a very early junior day, so it's not as though the staff discovered him late in the game. The staff clearly evaluated him behind Edmonds. The only caveat is that the evaluation might have changed based on senior year performance, but again, that is pure speculation, not supported by any facts whatsoever.
The Ulloa story had a statement from the reporter (not a quote) suggesting that Ulloa felt slow played. Ulloa easily could have felt that way because he didn't get a response from admissions, not because the coaches stopped recruiting him. We don't know the answer to that question, but it is pure speculation to read into that reporter statement that the Stanford coaches stopped recruiting Ulloa. It is not in the article at all. I would not be surprised if the staff prefers Pryts anyway. They offered him very early and he's a great recruit. That doesn't mean the staff wanted one or the other. Both could have been just fine, and I suspect that is the case.
