4 stars on ESPN, though yes, 3 stars on the other services (and I tend to discount ESPN's recruiting rankings anyway). I expect weaker HS competition has impacted his recruiting grade.Â
And maybe there's an argument that ESPN, being based in CT, might actually have an edge on evaluating CT talent? If so, it's probably the only state where they'd have an edge over the other services. That's total conjecture, though. I'm not enough of a recruitnik to split hairs so finely.Â
In any event, holy mackerel, he is one heck of a "Plan B" option. Shaw and the other coaches convinced this kid, a BC commit from a BC family, to take more AP classes and keep pushing for a better test score, all on the possibility that an offer might be coming down the line. It's this particular type of sales job that might amaze me most about the difficulties our coaching staff faces in recruiting. Really, really impressive to convince not just the Plan A guys to come here, but to convince a decent cohort of quality backup options to go through admissions on the hope that some of them get in and are options if Plan A guys get dinged or otherwise decide to go elsewhere. Along with Eboh, that's two 4-star guys (at least on one or more services) that we convinced to prepare for--and run--the admissions gauntlet without the promise of an offer, and now it looks like we might get both of them.Â
