Just some thoughts:

It's possible Burns was thinking he would be going elsewhere for graduate school but got into the Stanford Grad program he wanted.    I know too simple an explanation 😀

Taboada was often injured.  He missed a number of games this past season.  Maybe he just had enough.  Also he may be off somewhere.  A job?  Grad school elsewhere?  Plus Smith Schultz Parkinson.   

I believe Fisk will play defense.
