The Girl's game is up on ESPN replay now. Hard to tell too much from these games. When you throw a bunch of kids together over two days and ask them to play in a system of some kind, who knows what will happen.
Kiana was 3/10, 0/5 from three point range, but 3/3 free throws. 9 points--the most anyone had on her team was 11, and they were 2/14 overall on three point shooting. She had three assists and 1 turnover, in 17 minutes. I think that is pretty good for a point guard who wasn't really playing point in the game. I was watching for defense but really could not tell much.
Maya was 0/1 in nine minutes, with a couple of rebounds and a couple of blocks--one of which reminded me of Bird's block at the end of the Texas game (at 1:53 left in the 1st quarter.)Â She was in the dunk contest and failed to make a dunk when the cameras were on her, but made two dunks earlier in the day to qualify for the contest.
As for Maya's injury, I did not catch when it happened but I saw her wiping her nose several times before she finally went out with 15 seconds left in the first quarter and and got her nose packed. I don't think it was too serious given that she played with it for a few possessions before exiting. Then she came back into the game toward the end of the third quarter. And she was back again at the end of the 4th quarter with no signs of injury. Then on the bench in overtime with both nostrils packed. It looked like an annoying nose bleed that wouldn't stop, but did not seem very serious given that she played off an on with it the whole game.
