Saquon is a great player. If he wins the h award it wont be because it was all hype. He will have to prove himself against OSU and Wisconsin.Â
We can claim bias against Christian and Bryce but when Christian had his opportunities in prime time during award consideration, he didnt capitalize unfortunately.
Back to Bryce -Â If stanford were 7-0, That would have helped as well.
Which prime time games were you referring to specifically? The Pac-12 Championship where he set the Stanford all-purpose yardage record with 461 against U$C? The game before against Noter Dame where he gained 228 yards? the 2016 Big Game where he gained 283 yards in 31 carries? Perhaps you were thinking of the 2016 Rose Bowl where he rushed for 172 yards in 18 carries against #6 Iowa and caught 4 passes for another 105 yards and returned a punt for a 63 yard TD and ran a kickoff 29 yards, to say nothing of the kickoff TD that was called back on a rice-paper-thin holding call? Are those the games you mean?

As others have indicated, the conference championship and rose bowl either were too late or did not count.
The Rose Bowl was after the award was handed out but the Pac-12 championship game was not.

Obviously. It falls into the too late camp however as most ballots (especially from the east) had been submitted. Christian failed to capture the  moment vs sc earlier in the year, Oregon later, and nd towards the end. Simple as that.

228 verses ND isn't good enough?!? They were the ranked sixth in the country and needed to beat us for a trip to the playoffs. Didn't happen, they couldn't stop McCaffrey.
Couldnt stop? He averaged 3.4 yards a carry. He had 100 kickoff return yards in 5 tries. What exactly was there to stop? The hyperbole is ridiculous

249 against U$C the first time. 244 against Oregon. 228 against Noter Dame. 461 against U$C in the CCG. Average of four of exceedingly large proportions games, 295.5.
St. Saquon of the Nittany pedophiles has averaged 221.6 all-purpose yards all year. Just think, his average against all teams, terrific and terrible alike is less than what you consider to be McCaffrey's disaster at ND. If that's McCaffrey's disaster, what does that make Barkley's entire season?
BTW, Barkley's ypc has been 5.8 for his career and 6.5 for this, his historic Hiesman season. All he needs is 99 yards in each of his next five carries to catch Bryce Love.
Hiesman trophy leader my left n

Between Bryce and Barkley, Im biased towards Bryce. But to say Barkleys performance against Michigan in prime time (what was his yards per carry? Did he get contained to less than 100 yards? Did he have long touch down plays?) is comparable to Christians against ND is amusing at best
