I keep watching even though experience shows, to an absolute certainty, that every year Shaw will coach a game -- only one if we're lucky, some years it is two -- that is so horrible to watch that I want to scratch my eyes out after watching the abomination. I resolve not to keep watching, but then I do, so I must be insane.
This was one of the worst, and possibly the very worst, coaching job I have ever seen. Words fail me to express how utterly baffling I find Shaw's stubbornness and self-righteousness. Perhaps he will claim vindication for "staying the course" because Stanford lucked out and avoided a horrific loss. OSU deserved a better fate, and Stanford deserved a worse one. I have been watching Stanford football since 1970 but I don't think I will ever buy another ticket unless I see some change in the coaching approach that gives me any confidence that I won't witness another such dispiriting spectacle.Â
