Um . . . thank you?
Here are the lingering/troubling questions:
1. How can a QB, three years in the program, play like that?Â
2. How can a QB play like that and stay in the game, especially when "the backup" has played well in real games?
3. How can a team with Stanford's talent on O put up 222 yards of total offense - really, against any opponent, but especially against a 1-7 team that has pathetic defensive stats?
4. Does anyone see/appreciate the fallout of FUGLY games such as this? Specifically, during the game (per OSU game thread), you had die-hard Stanford fans tuning out (which I did - why would I subject myself to that?). Also during the game, I had a friend from Sacto advise me that he was canceling his plans to come to the UW game because he was so upset with what he was watching (I hope he reconsiders). Other posters said they were "emotionally detached" from the game - almost as a defense mechanism to the horror they were watching. These impacts are real - hard to quantify, but real. I think a safe conclusion is that games such as this - even with the escape W - do not help (and actually hurt) the program by undermining strength of fan support.
5. I'm trying to come up with a straw man so that shtup will be able to take another shot. Whatever.Â
