Mick,
Whats wrong with the Alamo Bowl (besides what happened last time)?
I think Stanford has a good team and Id like the best possible bowl and opponent.
Candidly, for me it's about the whole experience. If I'm going to take off time from work and spend a fair amount of money, I want to see Stanford play and preferably win, I want it to be in a great venue and beautiful city and if possible, I want friends and family around. I wouldn't even mind getting some work in. I can do all of those things in San Diego. In San Antonio, I can see the game.

San Antonio has the Alamo, the Riverwalk is great, and some of the best BBQ on the planet. It's not San Diego, but I wouldn't totally write it off.

It's not that I'm writing it off. It's an investment for me. No friends, no family, we don't have an office there and it's on television. Besides, why would I want to be in cozy, warm, 65 degree San Antonio when I could enjoy frigid, god-forsaken, 14 degree-with-wind-chill Detroit, Michigan?
