Here are my two cents:
Images: Very strongly support image insertion here. It is a pain to have to click a link to a picture. Plus, how would we ever deal without marty's gifs during the game threads.
Videos: In contrast to images, I don't care that much. Because I'm going to spend some time watching the video anyways, it's fine to have to go off the site to watch the video. And, if it is a good one, I'll want to watch it full screen (not sure if the current embedded video allows that, or if you have to go to the source to do it).
Links: I actually think link previews are a bug, not a feature. They take up space, and in any case you can't get the entirety of the linked article from the preview, so we are going to have to click the link anyways. I suppose it does provide some context for links where the poster simply inserted the link without adding commentary or telling us what is there. But, as noted by Redrum, if a link preview would lead to more people adding links without context, that would be a bad thing. I do still want to see semantic hyperlinking whenever a URL is posted. Would be annoying to have to do that manually or for the reader to copy and paste in the URL.
Tweets: In contrast to full weblinks, I strongly support embedding tweets. A tweet is only 140 (or 280) characters, so displaying it in its totality is nice as it avoids having to go wait for the page to load up only to read a very pithy tweet. I think tweets are very useful for conveying news (like when a recruit commits) quickly, so there is a lot of value in embedding them. I understand Redrum's fear that this just devolves into a platform for sharing Stanford-related tweets, but I don't think it would be as bad as he fears.
