yes, I remember we had a flicker of hope in 1977 that we could beat USC: it was Bill Walsh's first year as coach, we had Guy Benjamin, James Lofton, and Darrin Nelson, and going into the USC game we were tied for first in the conference with USC and Washington and had Rose Bowl hopes. So my friends and I drove down to LA for the game. We had crummy seats in the end zone, it rained the whole game, and we lost 49-0. I also didn't write my paper that was due Monday morning. All-in-all a bad weekend.
