The NFL is often a graveyard for players that demonstrated other-worldly talent on the college level; and for McCaffrey to be solidly in the mix during his second season speaks volumes to his talent and perseverance. McCaffrey is not the fastest man on the field; and he is not the biggest; but his combination of solid speed, football instincts and maneuverability should allow him to have a very good NFL career. I am not sure if his talent will make him an NFL legend; but it is good to see that has a leading role at the team that drafted him. Professional football is a brutal business; and just to be starting on a squad is already an achievement.
So, is today going to be a "good day" for Christian in his NFL career? Certainly nearly 40 yards rushing and over 100 receiving is nothing to sneeze at. I'm sure it will earn him a very good living. But..., I saw CMac as an other-worldly talent, so I expected some gaudy numbers from him--at least occasionally--in the NFL. Maybe these are gaudy numbers and I just don't get that.
Is this CMac's (approximate) ceiling?
Are the Panthers just not very good?
Is their offense so centered on Newton that others are disadvantaged?
Or, is Christian doing as well as can be expected playing "on Sundays?"
Maybe (e) All of the above?
