Bob, no matter what you will always beat me to this news. I was Googling her name and refreshing every few minutes and you still beat me :)
Good luck to McKenna!

And I think for a top, top recruit like Jones, "tailgate culture" won't factor into it as much as it might for some other athletes. Given her shortlist, I imagine it's a question of program fit, coaching fit, professional athlete aspirations, and academic aspirations. We know who wins the last one, without question, and UConn pretty clearly is the top fit for professional athlete aspirations. So the remaining question is just how the first two will play out. And I guess we'll just have to wait, cross our fingers, and see. In the meantime, it'll be interesting to see where Warnock announces...I think I agree with your analysis with one possible quibble. I don't think I agree that UConn is a better fit for professional athlete aspirations. I think any WBB player who is good enough to become a professional athlete will fare just as well under Tara as under Geno--we have had a lot of such athletes, after all. It may be true that Geno has more of them at a higher level--but that is simply because his team has been dominant and recruited more of them. Jennifer or Kate or Nneka or Chiney or Jayne or Kayla or Candice or Jeanette etc. would not have gone farther and further in the pros had they played for Geno.
Kate Starbird is, I think, the perfect example of how a Stanford WBB scholarship is so much more valuable than a UConn scholarship. Not only did Kate get to play professional basketball, when that was over (as it inevitably will be) she was prepared to go earn a PhD and become a university professor. Similarly, I see Chiney going into politics. We are the "cake and eat it too" school.
