The other two guys seem to have similar receiving stats, though I have not watched them much.

The other two guys are actually liabilities in the run game.  Smith is a net zero, which is not great, but at least he's not hurting the team out there.

When it comes to run-blocking, Smith is essentially a net zero this season, which makes him by far the best of the three candidates based on this criteria. Hockenson has struggled mightily as a run blocker this season and to a lesser extent so has Okwuegunam. Okwuegunam has also hurt his team significantly with penalties this season.

But as the article notes, the committee completely whiffed on the best tight ends.
