The two sets of all conference teams are more similar than I would have imagined.
Same QBs.
The RBs were close. On the first team they replaced the guy who had the second best yds/gm with the guy who had the fourth best - though the actual difference was small. The second team was still the lifetime achievement award.
The WRs were the same four, with a little mix first and second team. The writers swapped JJAW to first team for Shenault (Shenault had bigger stats - JJ a higher NFL profile).
TEs the same, first and second team.
Neither set chose any OL from Arizona, which might seem to have the best set of OL-related stats. [And they seem to have the best set of stats on the FootballOutsiders offensive line page, though FootballOutsiders does not have any one "best line" stat.]
The writers gave no Stanford choices along the OL. The coaches had Little first team and Herbig second team.
The DL is a little funny. The writers pick an Oregon DL for first and second team. The coaches pick an Oregon DL for first team. Not the same guys.
Apparently the writers think second team means mostly secondary as they chose four cornerbacks.
The kickers and punters were the same all around: Utah guys first team, Stanford guys second.
The UCLA and WSU punters should feel slighted.
