I'm not sure there was any other game I was so hesitant to walk away from for a moment (including, notably, ours). Football is entertainment and that game was entertaining. Sure, it wasn't in the way football is supposed to be entertaining, it's more like a "so bad it's good" movie (which he gets at with the "cult classic" phrasing).
Put me in for agreement. As I kept scrolling down this article, and didn't see the Cheez-It bowl listed, I realized that it had to be number #1. I did watch it - and I am happy that I did. It was epic. It'll go down in history. On that Dec 26, I realized it was on and I asked my wife for the remote to check the score. I saw that it was 7-0 Cal - and my first thought was, Wow, Cal actually scored. Then came the appearance of another stat - 4 interceptions thus far at the beginning of the second quarter - and I knew I had to watch this trainwreck.
Here's the best part. My daughter came home to visit for the holidays and watched part of it with me. She left the room in the fourth quarter to take care of other things. She missed the overtime, and when she came back, I asked her if she knew the result. She says she checked her iPhone and saw that TCU won. I said, "Oh, but Cal had the ball in the first possession...." and she replied, "Let me guess, it was intercepted."
You can't make this stuff up. (I have to admit I'm chuckling now as I type this.)
