FWIW - The 49ers have been experiencing the excuse game too.
Sunny side seats are too hot.
Tailgating options are difficult.
Leaving the area after a game takes forever.

I think Jed York moved the 49ers out of SF because Santa Clara was closer to his Los Altos residence.

Sounds like San Francisco didn’t make a great offer, and York wasn’t especially wedded to being in San Francisco.

To be honest, I can’t really blame the city (though what it did for the Anerica’s Cup was laughable).  Civic pride aside, the sweetheart deals meant to lure or keep professional teams in cities are not good economic bets.
