Yeah, this will only make a bad problem worse. I don't know how someone will distinguish between legitimate sales and booster inducements, and having a bunch of 18-year-olds rolling around campus with hundreds of thousands of dollars is only going to exacerbate the problems with sex, drugs, and improper behavior that already plagues a lot of college players.
OTOH, if it hastens the descent of revenue-generating college athletics, perhaps it's an ill wind that blows no good. We're close to the straw that breaks the camel's back, and this may yet be it.
