It seems that Tara has reminded the team that they can play defense, and after the last few games, they should realize it now. Maybe some thought our win over Baylor was a fluke, but I think we're just getting back to that form. Obviously Shannon has found a defensive role. I was really pleased by Anna coming in today when the Hulls got into some foul trouble. That's really big as the Hulls can continue to play tough defense even if the refs call fouls on them.
I hope no one has other plans for the first weekend in April. Matter of fact, I'd be happy if Tara went into 2019-20 with a 6 or 7 win lead.
My point was, and continues to be, things didn't turn out as expected. We beat Oregon head to head. According to Creme, that is worth nothing. By his Sunday night choice of top-8, their records amongst themselves
1. Baylor 1-1
2. ND 3-1 (all 3 wins against the same team)
3. UConn 1-2
4. Miss St 0-1 (How does it get this ranking with no wins against top-10 teams?)
5. Louisville 1-3 (all 3 losses against the same team)
6. Oregon 2-1
7. Stanford 2-1
8. Iowa 0-1
(So. Carolina's #18 RPI must be mostly acquired from its losses. I don't know how it had been picked to seed as #12 overall,)
But, according to Creme at half time today, Oregon "hasn't been sharp in the last couple of weeks". Hmm... Yeah, most teams when they have to play without the (then) nation's leading FG% shooter might lose a little edge. I think either he's making excuses for what he's promulgating or he really doesn't pay attention to what's going on. Step past the games with the temporary loss of personnel and then compare to Miss. State over that same period, it is pretty close to the same wins over somewhat similar RPI.
Frankly, in my estimation, Oregon deserves to be higher seeded than Miss. St., based on their records, their head-to-head meeting, their personnel, and the SOS. Yea, Miss State won big today, beating a really undersized (the 2 starters over 5'9" are 5'11" & 6'1") #47 SOS school with 14 losses. In my book, that's a routine, expected win.
I'm not sure we want to be in Portland. We had trouble with Gonzaga, which I bet will wind up in Portland. The NCAA is already ignoring their #13 RPI and not putting them in the top 16.

Bizarre, I don't understand why Portland wouldn't still get Oregon as #2 seed. Or if we moved ahead of Oregon (doubtful), why we wouldn't get it.
Edit: Oh, never mind, you said #1 seed. Maybe Miss State goes to Portland as #1 seed and Oregon goes as #2.
Creme has been predicting Stanford to Chicago as a #2 seed all along. IIRC that was in the committee's last tentative reveal too. That may still hold.
With Notre Dame's win over Louisville in the ACC finals today, the Irish will probably land in Chicago as the #1 seed. Unfortunately, if what has been predicted holds up, we would get sent there as well. We need to have a defensive performance like today to beat the defending national champs. Like Oregon, they have threats at all five positions
