Well unless the Stanfords of the world want to triple class sizes, there are more worthy students than there are spots and there's not a lot you can do to change that. What would be more worth doing is attacking the idea that admissions to these schools are so important, as though the education you get at Stanford is necessarily worlds better than Sac State (to say nothing of UCLA). The status granted by the degree is out of proportion to the achievement, and that's the real problem. None of these parents would do this if they thought that going to UC Irvine was a worthy accomplishment for their kids.
