The problem for me is that now the story is being sold as $6.5 million will get you into Stanford, and because it's the highest dollar figure that's been mentioned, LSJU is getting splashed the hardest with the grime.  When this doesn't change the storyline as far as Stanford is concerned at all, to me - it's still the same $500K to the sailing team that was reported weeks back.

OTOH, I think Mr. Zhao's or his daughter's status as a "developmental prospect" in an entirely non-sports way might have had something to do with the decision as well.
