The elimination of repechages is an interesting wrinkle, but for a team that needs to finish top 2 overall in all three events, finishing top 3 in the seeded heats (where they won't see UW or Cal) shouldn't be too much of a hurdle.
Stanford's competition in the heats (ranking is overall team ranking):
I Eight: Rhode Island, #14 Rutgers, #5 Michigan, #16 Harvard, Marist
II Eight: #12 Iowa, #17 Duke, #4 Texas, #11 Wisconsin, Marist
Four: Navy, #9 Yale, #17 Duke, UCF
I'm paying attention to women's rowing for maybe the third day all year (the admissions scandal was the first, and noting how Stanford finished second in Pac-12s was the second), so you should discount everything I say, really, but those heats look pretty manageable. We get Texas once and Michigan once, but we miss #6 Ohio State, #7 Brown, #8 Princeton, and #10 UVA.
I don't see national rankings by boat, but those do exist by region. In those, Harvard is the 4th-ranked I Eight boat in the Northeast, behind Princeton, Brown, and Yale. In the Central Region, Michigan is the 3rd-ranked I Eight boat behind Ohio State and Iowa. (We're the 3rd-ranked I Eight in the West, behind Cal and UW.) For the II Eights, Iowa is not among the Top 6 in their region despite its overall team ranking, Texas is 2nd and Duke is 3rd in the South region, and Wisconsin is 3rd in the Central (behind Michigan and Ohio State). For the Fours, Navy is 1st in the Mid-Atlantic Region (though not sure that means much overall--they're first in each category in the region but unranked nationally), Yale is 2nd in the Northeast (behind Brown), Duke is 4th in the South, and UCF is 6th in the Central.
Bottom line: we should win each heat.
