Does anyone have any idea why GoStandford has been radio silent on the World Chanpionships? Are all the PR staff in South Korea and forgot their passwords?
Gold medals (individuals & team), world records....yawn... so, anything new? Oh, a Stanford athlete is injured when a floor falls? Nah, not worth mentioning ...
Hey GoStanford, I only watched some of the events. Did Stanford have divers? Synchronized swimmers, open water? How’d Stanford men do in water polo?
Ledecky’s 800 was quite interesting to me. Not only is she fast, but that lady can race! She set her usual fast pace but gave up the lead midway through. She stayed close and crushed Quadarella in the final 50. It was only Ledecky’s 20th fastest 800, but still faster than anyone else has ever been (per SwimSwam). She was all smiles as though the race went as she planned. Unfortunately the feed I had didn’t carry her interview.
In WWP, the gold medal match was played mostly in a heavy rain. The US played well in the first quarter and lead 3-1. Spain’s defense lead to some US errors in the second and tying at 3-3. The half finished with the US up 5-3. A great 3rd quarter sealed the game at 9-3. The final wound up 11-6. Current or former Stanford athletes scored 9 of the 11 goals.
