Updated weights are now on the website. Plenty of notables and commentary:
Many ILBs at respectable weight. For comparison, last year's duo of Okereke and Barton were 234 and 224 (Barton too light, semi-frequently used ILB #3 Branch was tiny at 212):
- Robinson 236
- Miezan 241
- Mangum-Farrar 240
- Beecher 237
- Damuni 258 (possibly a little out of shape after his LDS mission, so I'd look more forward to next season's "truer" playing weight after offseason S&C)
- DiCosmo 231
- Poor Andrew Pryts, who in hindsight should've probably never been moved from SS because lord knows we could've used the help back there, checks in at 225
Big risers from last season:
- Wilson 200 -> 210
- A. Fox 240 -> 252 (he's gonna be a terror off the edge)
- Butler 197 -> 205
- Head 201 -> 210
- Bonner 181 -> 188
- Simi "Arcega-"Fehoko 210 -> 226
- Mangum-Farrar 223 -> 240 (TANK)
- Walk-on RB Cameron McFarlane 200 -> 210, making the only RBs under 200 Dorian Maddox and our 2 frosh
- Walk-on OLB Caleb Phillips 215 -> 225
- Walk-on TE TaeVeon Le 230 -> 241, no longer clearly the smallest guy in the TE room
- Powell 281 -> 294
- Hamilton 287 -> 301
- Walk-on OL Grant Pease, who started the spring game and might earn a scholarship if/when Trey Stratford medically retires (see below): 250 -> 272
- Harrington 250 -> 257
- Parkinson 240 -> 251, and looks like a Greek god (our top 3 TEs all weigh 250+, good lord)
- Reid 231 -> 239
- Walk-on DE Trey Labounty 235 -> 245
Our projected starting OL:
Little - Hamilton - Dalman - Powell - Sarell
309 301 284 297 308
Primary backup Hattis is also at 297.
Trey Stratford, a scholarship OL, has lost almost 20 lbs from last season and is now listed at 240. I hope everything's ok with him, but fear it isn't. As a result of awful recruiting malpractice, this will mean we effectively have an inexcusable OL gap year (Carberry was rumored to have been horrified at the situation when he arrived). Luckily the cavalry are coming (but likely a year too late); the 5 frosh are all pretty beefy already, Pease has garnered praise and is the first frosh walk-on OL to actually play in a game since who even knows when, and the '20 OL class is already in pretty good shape.
Frosh OL weights:
OT: Rouse 291, Miller 292 (surprised the heck out of me; I thought he was in the 260's!)
OG: Bragg 286, Hornibrook 279
C: Nugent 284
These are playable, albeit slightly light, weights as is; I'll really be satisfied after seeing the results of a full offseason of S&C.
Other notable frosh measurables besides the ILBs mentioned above:
- Elijah "Arcega-"Higgins 6'3" 220
- Josh Pakola 6'3" 257 (does he bulk up 15-20lbs and play DE?)
- Tristan "Just Start Me At Strong Safety From Day 1" Sinclair 6'2" 207
