I have to say, I'm not too surprised. For the 40 year decision to be truly worth it, you need to be mentally and physically healthy for those 40 years. Andrew has too much talent and too many off-field interests to let his body get so beaten that he won't be able to pursue them all happily. He has more money than he'll ever need, and seems to be eager to get on with the next stage of what I'm sure will be an interesting and talented life. And he's probably done more than any other single person to burnish the Stanford brand since Tiger Woods (pre-2010).

So thank you Andrew, and as they say in the land of the lucky, may the road rise up to meet you.
