Angry. There are three Stanford QBs that I had the honor to watch that were generational talents. They provided us so much joy. Two of them, Jim Plunkett, who was, I believe selected as the greatest college QB of the 20th century, and Andrew Luck, the most complete and most highly rated college QB to hit the NFL probably since 1982, (and you know why I picked that year) played for organizations that threw them to the wolves and allowed them to be physically destroyed.

I once read an NFL exec say he’d never seen a QB taking a beating like Plunkett did. It took him a couple of shell shocked years at SF and then on the bench to recover enough where he could lead a team twice to SB wins. When talent wise, he was a shadow of himself.

Luck played in an era where they protected players more, particularly QBs. But he still got pummeled. Over and over again. Broken ribs (he played and led a comeback win). A lacerated kidney ( he played and pissed blood after the game).

Plunkett had Chuck Fairbanks. That SOB had him running the option. Luck had Grigson. I read that when he left, Indy had the 4th lowest paid offense in the league. The lowestbpaid unit - offensive line. He signed Luck then used his money on the defense. After all, why protect him.

The third is, of course, Elway. And frankly his physical gifts were so overwhelming that he was able to avoid the pitfalls to an extent. He could escape a lot of hits. But as much as I disliked the offensive philosophy that Reeves employed, I do believe that organization gave him some protection.

I was looking forward to Luck hoisting the Lombardi one day. But instead I will savor the memories.

And I will detest the Indianapolis Colts from here on out.

Grigson should never see another major NFL &nbsp;job. But I also blame Irsay. If I am him I’m pulling Grigson into my office and I’m saying look you &nbsp;idiot we just paid a pretty penny for this guy and he’s our future he’s our franchise put an offensive line around him before you do anything else. Or go work somewhere else you stupid idiot. It was an obvious conclusion. &nbsp;But not so to Grigson. &nbsp;Idiot. &nbsp;
