I think the TV commentators had it right.  There was no downfield passing game at all, and this allowed the Oregon D to focus on Parkinson and disrupt the short passing game. 

Losing our three most prolific receivers from last year, while having Costello sidelined with injury when he needed to be working with the new ones, seems to have prevented us from developing any kind of downfield threat.  We won't win many games unless that gets corrected--if only to loosen up defenses.

Oregon was extremely well prepared for our screen passes and double teamed Parkinson, daring us to to something different.  And we apparently could not.

Just run Scarlett every play.  At least that won't be as predictable as our passing offense.  And KJ is just way too locked in on Parkinson.  Presumably that will show on film and he might be able to correct it.
