Ditto on Carson as an announcer. Very even-handed, as was his partner, for the most part.
Faouzi Talib the name of the injured player. Very tough. But that long break allowed the Gauchos to find their legs again - they were really sucking wind in the beginning of the first OT, having both played a tough game and given up a late lead.
You're right, Waldeck normally is the workhorse playing cover in front of the defense. And normally, he's really solid. But that last giveaway was really tough. Stanford was setting up for its final push forward, and instead had to scramble cover a counter that turned into a couple of good chances against the run of play.
I think Beason moved wide to mark Michael, more than anything. He was tearing up the left side of our defense, and Tanner pretty much man-marked him for the last 30 minutes or so on defense.
The Gauchos were kind of disconnected - good attacking midfield, not bad backline, but a whole lot of open space in the middle, which let Stanford be more possession-oriented than they have been recently.
I think it's Ludwick. And Hughes was the beautiful flick on the near post off a corner that tied the game early in the second half.

Waldeck is also in an exposed spot - if he gives up a bad ball, it's generally an instant counter-attack.
Yes, Gilbey has kind of disappeared in the last couple of games. Another player I keep waiting on is Panchot. Definitely skilled, but he hasn't had the impact I expected this year.
In any case, let me elaborate - a pretty good result if you consider going down 2-0 early and being down 3-2 late. And I may watch a replay of the first 40 minutes or so to see how the goals happened.
As far as ranking, I think UVa displaces us - they had a good win on the road against #20 Notre Dame, after a 1-0 OT win against Western Michigan at home. And I'm not sure Stanford is a top-4 team yet. Their win over Akron doesn't look great, as the Zips have gone 0-7 to start the season, with losses to Marshall and Pitt. Looking at it, tonight was only Stanford's third game against a team currently above .500 - 5-1-2 Penn State, 4-2-1 Cal, and tonight. The other five teams we've played have a combined THREE wins between them. Our RPI is going to suck.
