Not sure I'm going to make it to this one.  I was 14 in 1977 when Star Wars came out.  I saw it seven times, paying for the first four.  The opening scene with the Imperial cruiser chasing the rebels -- whew.  Hadn't seen anything like that before.  Always thought Episode V was the best, but they've all been pretty good in their own way, Jar Jar Binks notwithstanding.  Kasdan's writing was usually pretty good (slight aside, really liked his "Silverado" which reawakened a torpid genre).  There's hints of Westerns in Star Wars.

Not sure if I'll see this last one.  Maybe, just out of inertia.  My kids didn't experience Star Wars in the same way.  My oldest was 8, 11 and 14 when the prequels came out, but by then the special effects were fairly pedestrian.  Not even certain they saw Episodes VII and VIII.

Just read that Lucas felt betrayed by Disney.  They purchased all his treatments for the sequels, but chose their own plots and writers.  According to Bob Iger, they were very clear with Lucas that they were going in their own direction.
