"Chip Long authored the two highest-scoring seasons of Brian Kelly's time at Notre Dame, along with two of the four best-gaining offenses."
The firing seems a little like grass-is-greener syndrome to me. Regardless, I have no idea how you can argue with teejers' point. ND turned it around after firing half their staff after 4-8...10-3, 12-1, 11-2. Going 11-2 with an apparently crappy (?) OC sounds WONDERFUL to me right now.
That is exactly the point. 99% of demands to "do something" are grass is greener syndromes. Hell, there are even some Alabama fans now wondering if Nick Saban is passé.
Most coordinator changes don't actually accomplish anything other than make people feel like something is being done.

So you're saying you would rather have Brian Kelly at Stanford than David Shaw?
To each his own...
"So you're saying you would rather have Brian Kelly at Stanford than David Shaw?"
So, you're saying that it's impossible to be an extremely successful head coach (Kelly) and also be a good guy (Shaw)? My guess is that it's very possible to do both. I just don't know if Shaw is capable of being both.
You don't think a guy who has been to three Rose Bowls and won two is capable of being successful? What exactly does Shaw need to do to demonstrate that he can be successful?

No question that Shaw has had success at Stanford. But, truthfully...and I was loathe to believe this until recently...it does appear that most of his success was born out of riding Harbaugh's coattails. Those days are clearly over.
