Yeah, the question I have is which came first, the chicken or the egg?

Did our shift away from a lead blocking fullback occur because Symonds and Heimuli aren't good at it, or have we de-emphasized recruiting of fullbacks who are good lead blockers because we changed our scheme.  Or (my preferred hypothesis) are both a result of evolution of the game away from 21 formations at all levels of the game, affecting both the pipeline of fullbacks and our preferred scheme.

I thought someone said that Carberry brought the Duo run (which doesn't use a fullback) from the pros to replace Power, because (at least in part) Stanford opponents were blowing up Power too often by sending someone from the backside while the back was waiting for a hole to open.

I suppose there may be other reasons too. Power is out of style in the pros, where most teams don't use a fullback, while Duo is in.
