As long as the pot continues to grow, everything will continue.  But to quote Herbert Stein, “if something cannot go on forever, it will stop” and I suspect that the next set of TV contracts will represent peak college football.  And then it will be interesting to see what happens to these budgets.

Actually, based on this analysis (https://www.mercurynews.com/2020/02/04/t...-catch-up/) the pot is growing for the Pac-12, just more slowly than for other conferences.

I don't take a position on whether Larry Scott is competent or not (though I do agree he is overpaid).  As long as #itjustmeansmore is true (which it is), the SEC is going to be more valuable than the Pac-12 and there is going to be a gap in revenue, which Larry Scott or his replacement will not be able to fix.

But I stand by my prediction that the next TV contract will probably represent the peak of TV revenue for all conferences.  I just see college football entering a long period of secular decline.  Maybe the southeast holds out longer for cultural reasons, but college football will be like major league baseball, which has gone from America's pastime to America's former passtime (don't @ me).
