And that is a staggering concept. I realize speculation is somewhat unproductive, but when one pits the commercial implications of cancelling the Olympics against possibly the world's most fastidious national culture in Japan, that is the irresistible force meeting the immovable object. When we were in Tokyo on our honeymoon back in the 80s, we saw quite a few people walking on the streets with masks. When we asked a local if there was some sort of health issue we should aware of, he said that a lot of the mask wearers were people with colds who did not want to infect others in public. And this was more than 30 years ago.
