MT, people have analysed data from China the right way--using statistics to take into account the time to death and the time to recovery as well as asymptomatic cases. And they have found numbers in the ballpark of South Korea's (I think it was like 1.5% overall and higher with age). I'll try to find the study when I'm on my computer tomorrow.
None of the other "incorrect" mortality estimates are really far off from that one. So I wouldn't just reject them out of hand.
