And it has come to this, hysterics based on a tweet from a guy with a crayon drawn profile pic.

It's not the tweet that matters, it's the article, which quotes a number of experts in infectious disease. Your version of "hysterics" is most people's dawning reality that life is about the change in fundamental ways for at least the next few months. If you think we're all wildly overreacting, please feel free to ignore us.

I know full well the fundamental change. I'm considered as higher risk (old, respiratory illness history, hypertension). I've a 13 year old daughter who is very active in sports, dance, and school. Our county has just strongly urged against gatherings of over 50 people, so most of her events will probably be cancelled. Both my wife and I support our family as independent consultants, with our paychecks at the whim of our clients. Those spigots could be turned off by a phone call--a very real probability at the moment. 

Now is not the time to be calling for the tarring and feathering of people in charge or for their heads to be stuck on stakes. Now, more than ever, is the time for rational and swift action. 

Feel free to believe in your conspiracies, just don't let the hysteria get in the way of addressing the crisis.

Let's not forget, Exxon knew about and denied the risk of carbon emissions in the 1960s, just as the tobacco industry knew smoking causes cancer, etc.  Sequestering information is what has led us to the climate crisis we now face, and arguably the health care system in this country being so dysfunctional as a result of so many medical interventions due to smoking-related maladies. Let's not do it yet again with this pandemic. Truth is truth and informs us what actions should and shouldn't be taken. It isn't partisan and isn't political. Denying it or believing in an alternative reality doesn't change actual reality.

The CDC actively thwarted Washington from protecting its citizens. This is a fact. I don't care who is responsible or what political persuasion they are or aren't, or if they are a-political, as long as whoever is responsible pays the price for their negligence. If we can't hold people accountable based on their actions we might as well just live in anarchy and go full Lord of the Flies."

The State of Washington was trying to be proactive and avoid the disaster it now faces. But the CDC got in its way. If only the State of Washington could sue the CDC and file a criminal case against it for negligence. People need to go to prison for this incompetence. The real question is how far up the food chain did the orders come to stop the CDC from helping Washington?  There are going to be some Congressional investigations into what is unfolding now, at this time next year, make book  on it.
