I don't see any logic at all to this European travel ban. We should have done it 4 weeks ago.

I agree with the wish that we had locked things down more, sooner, tighter.  But, WHO has recommended against travel bans.  I do recognize they have thought this through more than me.

Feb 29:  WHO recommendations: "WHO continues to advise against the application of travel or trade restrictions to countries experiencing COVID-19 outbreaks."
(I didn't see if there was any change when it was declared a pandemic.)

The Lancet offers free access to a number of Coronavirus papers.
A paper published Mar 11 is "Clinical course and risk factors for mortality of adult inpatients" of 191 patients who died or were discharged by 31-Jan.  One interesting statement:"The shortest observed duration of viral shedding among survivors was 8 days, whereas the longest was 37 days."
(Santa Clara County's first case was released after 21 days from date of detection.   I'm not questioning that, but I'd like to know the relation of that genome to the first 21 community-spread cases in the county.)

BMJ also offers free access to Coronavirus material.

JAMA offers free access to at least some Coronavirus material.
