The NHL suspended its season.  The newsflash on my phone had an interesting turn of phrase

"NHL suspends play because of spread of the coronavirus but hopes to resume in the future".

I assume that was meant to say "this season".  I don't think the permanent end to NHL is being contemplated.

And Stanford has suspended all its collegiate sports:

Next thing that ought to be suspended is recruiting trips.

I guess we should not feel bad about the coronavirus threads being all-encompassing on a Stanford sports board, since in the real world Covid-19 considerations have subsumed athletic ones.
