FYI .... Testing is still limited in Santa Clara, one of the most impacted counties in the US.   I received this from my Kaiser doctor today in response to my e-mail asking about testing after three people from my small office stayed home with flu symptoms (including me).

"Unless there are known contacts, the Health Department is not allowing testing.  It does sound like the flu so i would suggest staying home and rest. If you develop significant shortness of breath with a high fever or chest pain, please let me know."

So despite what has been stated at high levels (like that turn of phrase?) testing is limited even in virus hot spots like Santa Clara county.   

So ... questions we ask with little data - Should my daughter go to her high school given she has been expose to a flu but probably not Covid-19?  (Our decision is she will until/unless she develops symptoms).  Should my wife continue to teach her classroom where she sees many kids throughout the day?  (Ditto). And so on for our other household members.   I will self quarantine and realize this is most likely a common flu but without testing who knows?

We'll be fine but I share this to show that we should treat all the infection data you get from Santa Clara with extreme doubt.  There is limited testing and the infection data shared publicly must be extremely undercounted.

To complicate matters in the Bay Area, the trees are in full bloom and leaves are sprouting, as a result, allergy forecasts are medium high. Just great.

Cultural events are also banned, with museums, pools, and libraries additionally closing. While grocery stores will remain open, restaurants, bars, pubs, and nightclubs are required to close if they can't guarantee a three-foot distance between patrons. Buffets, naturally, are banned.

Other countries are doing the same.  This has to happen here, too, unless we're okay with millions dying.
