I'm genuinely curious.  If looting and rioting can happen in a pacifist country of old people with no firearms, what is likely to happen in a country of 300+ million guns and, shall we say, no lack of self-confidence/

Why do you believe Italy is a country with no firearms? Remember, one of the original reasons for the creation of the Carabinieri was that the police were out gunned by the mob.
