Since most of the deaths from Covid-19 occur in those over 44 years old, I don't think the 55% figure you cite in New York implies anything about whether the use of ACE inhibitors may contribute. The scientific speculation I've read goes both ways (some believe ACE inhibitors may be protective, others that it is the withdrawal of ACE inhibitor treatment that may be detrimental). Only a more detailed analysis will tell.
