Their foolishness makes me appreciate Governor Newsom and the mayors of California's large cities. They have worked together very well even though they don't all agree on some of the details. I know from working with some of those mayors that Governor Newsom thinks President Trump has done a terrible job providing federal leadership and assistance. However, Governor Newsom has been smart enough to not pick needless fights with the president or shout his feelings from the rooftops. Instead, he has mostly stayed focused on responding to the epidemic. That doesn't mean that the media shouldn't cover any politician's failings, but I appreciate it when my representatives stay focused on the task at hand.

Totally agree. Many in my social circle are confused about why Cuomo has been receiving greater plaudits than folks like Insee, Beshear, Dewine, and Newsom, all whom acted early and therefore averted the need for daily national press conferences.
Speaking as someone who's lived in NYC myself, I feel comfortable saying that the egos that New York produces are bigger than just about anywhere. Just look at the leadership it has produced at the federal (Trump), state (Cuomo), and local (DeBlasio) level...
