And I feel lucky I live in CA.   CA is quickly moving down to 30th on the state list for per capita COVID-19 mortality even though the state could easily be #3 or #4 without the leadership of local and state officials.

In fact CA could easily be the worst in deaths due to CA being a gateway to China and Asia, having a ton of international travelers (last summer, it seemed like *everyone* on Facebook took a trip to Italy or Spain), and a large southern land border.

My previous view of Newsom was similar to BostonCard’s — it felt like a lot was handed to him, but he’s been proving himself this year. As for Newsom ‘20? Nah, we still have many challenges ahead, but if he keeps it up, who knows, maybe Newsom ‘28.

Or maybe Newsom '24. Biden will be very long in the tooth, and being VP (whoever he picks)hasn't been a direct road to the nomination. Newsom still has some questions to answer about the PUC and their failure to properly regulate PG&E, a company with know safety issues. That and future missteps may come back to bite him. However, right now, he is looking real good IMHO.
