It would seem that when 750 New Yorkers are dying every day, a pissing match between the governor and the mayor of the largest city would not be in the best interest of everyone involved.

One would think.  Maybe they're positioning for the June 23 NY primary election.

The stupidest thing about all of this is that there is no chance that schools will open in NYC by June 1st.  Even if the number of new cases/deaths has dropped considerably a month from now (a likely thing), there will still be plenty of people in the city with the virus, and the necessary testing/contact tracing apparatus will not be in place yet.  Opening schools before July is a pipe dream.

Cuomo is just trying to assert himself as alpha dog.
