Just deeply, profoundly sad.
I was devastated to learn that the joyful young man that Coach Shaw held up as a model of how to approach life was suffering from anxiety and depression the entire time, and that what appeared to be joy was instead him trying to cover up his misery. The other health concerns he had (meningitis, Valley Fever, Chronic Lyme Disease, insomnia) certainly complicate the picture--to be on a regimen of 30 pills a day is certainly striking. The father's statement that it wasn't suicide was as clear as can be, but Zach clearly had a far more complicated health situation than I knew.
I hope he is at peace and that his friends and family find whatever peace they can in the hours and years to come.
