Thought about this a lot.  If I were between my HS/Sr. year and Frosh year in college, I'd take a gap year, no question, even if I had to reapply the following year.  I'd probably take a gap year if it were my soph or junior year.  Senior year, I'd probably hang in there, tbh.

I would probably contact a school that was considering me but didn't admit and ask if they would reconsider admission if I enrolled in the fall.  This fall would probably be my best shot at getting into a reach school.  With a lot of people expected to defer till next fall, what does that do to next year's high school seniors.  Are they looking at fewer admissions slots as schools have to contend with all the students who defer from this year?  Do school's expand the 2021 freshman class to cope?
