I suspect you're correct but UConn in a particularly untenable positoin: an independent w/o the draw/interest of ND (and ND aligned with ACC for football this season). In other words, I don't think P5 schools will say "UConn packed it in, so that's it for all of us" (even if they may get there eventually). There is a lot more at stake for P5 schools.
The Big 10 announced today they will be playing on Labor Day weekend. I guess this is the "right" move if you are intent on pulling off a full season (two scheduled byes when make-up games might be played). It seems foolishly optimistic, though the conference in making the announcement also said they could still push back the start date to later in September.

The Big Ten has set up the schedule to allow the first two weeks of the season to rolled into the middle and the end of the season.
