Yeah as someone who arrived for grad school in 2004 and only experiencing one year of him, I don't recall much other than them not being good teams.  Now Harris, that guy fills me with anger.

I met Harris once.  It was a singularly unpleasant experience.  IMHO, his hire shows the limits of linear thinking.  He was Ty Willingham-successful at a midlevel football school, so obviously he'd have the same result at Stanford.  Uh, no.

Actually I thought it was a decent hire. Here was a guy who had taken a program that was in the doldrums and led them to a New Years Six Bowl Game. So while it wasn't obvious that he would have the same result at Stanford, at least he had a track record. Also, we were still bound by the Ted Leland "do it on the cheap" philosophy of hiring head coaches, so we were somewhat limited in our choices. Of course it didn't work out, but I don't think that was particularly predictable.
