As a reminder, here are the new coronavirus cases and deaths in Big 12 states:
Texas: 7,976 new cases, 220 new deaths
Oklahoma: 765 new cases, 13 new deaths
Iowa: 259 new cases, 6 new deaths
Kansas: 93 new cases, 5 new deaths
West Virginia: 121 new cases, 6 new cases
BC
Please remind me the definition of "new" - 7 days? 10 days? 2 weeks?
Also, I think the more valid info would be what case numbers, deaths (and hospitalizations and capacity . . . of course!) are in the counties that Austin, Lubbock, and Fort Worth are in. I imagine the numbers are still a bit scary (even if some of the worst numbers may be along the border - which is just my rank speculation).
Having said all of the above, it strikes me as imprudent/wishful thinking on part of Big XII (and maybe they are just keeping up appearances . . . for now). But if they do actually play, I, for one, will be hoping they pull it off with minimal Covid spread issues (and there definitely will be some somewhere). I'm not too big on Dean Wormer's outlook on life . . . just because I can't watch/root for my team, I'm not going to demand that others suffer the same fate . . . even if I think it is imprudent.
