It sounds like he has already learned. But "Shaw is stubborn" is a meme that will never die. Fans are too stubborn to change their minds about it. ;-)

I don't think stubborn is the right adjective to describe Shaw. He has shown a willingness to change.  

There is a fine line between being patient, giving things time to work out, and waiting too long to make changes. Shaw has IMO a well-established track record of waiting too long to change what isn't working. I see it manifested most in recruiting and game management, but I'm sure it applies to keeping coaches too long and other areas that aren't publicly visible.
